‘The Mohawk Warriors for Dummies’ – a guide for Stephen Harper

It is difficult to know which action by the Stephen Harper Conservatives is more despicable:     

1. Sitting back and watching while Julian Fantino, McGuinty and the OPP allowed the Mohawk Warriors organized crime group to terrorize Caledonia.     

In the discovery for the Brown/Chatwell lawsuit, Superintendent John Cain, the OPP’s major incident commander in overall charge of DCE from March, testified that this information [presence of "extreme activists" on Douglas Creek Estates occupation site] came from [Superintendent Ron] George in early April [2006]. Cain also said that, in his view, “extreme activists” meant Mohawk Warriors, whom he described as being akin to Hells Angels in that the Warriors deploy themselves in a quasi-military manner and, as he succinctly put it, they “use guns, have guns.”

The officers said the OPP grew more concerned about the possibility of violence after the arrival of militant members of the Mohawk Warriors, a group described as “akin to the Hells Angels.” The Warriors were involved in organized crime and cigarette running and had a reputation for physical confrontation and access to guns, including assault rifles, court heard. “Their flag was raised higher than the Six Nations flag which is symbolic of who controls the site,” Insp. Haggith testified.

2. Annointing Julian Fantino as the CPC candidate in Vaughan – one of the key leaders of the OPP/Liberal ‘peacekeeping’ force that provided security, legal and PR services to the criminals who terrorized Caledonia.  The same Julian Fantino who cruelly joked recently that he was going to be a voice for victims now that he was an MP:

3. Ordering the Canadian Forces to…I can barely write the words…apologize to the criminals who terrorized Ipperwash, Caledonia, Deseronto and Oka. Oka – where they murdered Corporal Marcel Lemay. Marcel Lemay - the dead police officer to whom Christie Blatchford’s Helpless is dedicated. Blatchford – the award winning author whose book the Conservative Party of Canada refused to wait to read before appointing Julian Fantino as their Vaughan candidate.  Helpless – the book about how Caledonia was terrorized by Mohawk Warriors.

It looks like it’s time to dust off those resumes!!

I have attached the ‘Caledonia resumes‘ for four Canadians who I believe may be (almost) over-qualified for positions within the Aboriginal Affairs Ministry left vacant by Michael Bryant’s staff. I would be very grateful if you would pass them on to the new minister, Mr. Duguid.

We all have extensive experience with race-based policing as well as many valuable connections with the OPP and within the native community. You may check our references with Mr. Fantino, the Ministry of the Attorney General, Mr. McGuinty, Mr. Bryant, Mr. Kwinter, Mr. Powless and Ruby & Floyd Montour as we are all very well acquainted and have extensive experience working together.

One of our number is a long time resident. One has three brothers born in Caledonia. A third sold real estate in Caledonia before moving to London. The fourth member of our team has no real connections to the town other than having driven through a few times before deciding to become  an outsider/interloper/troublemaker like us. The fifth member, Mary-Lou LaPratte has more experience in dealing with doubletalking politicians, OPP two tier justice, and landclaim lawlessness than all of us combined. 

I should note, however, that one of our group may be employed in Ottawa after Oct 14th, but the rest of us would still be available, and we really, really need the money these positions could provide. I’m fairly certain that, as with all those in the OPP and McGuinty government we, too, could be convinced to sell out our fellow Canadians in Caledonia for 20 pieces of silver. (Or perhaps even less…make us an offer!)

Please allow me to thank you for your assistance in providing access to these employment opportunities. I believe we could be a real asset to the Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs in undermining the rule of law in Ontario.

You know, if I could get a government job promoting “aboriginal occupations, lawlessness and related chaos, mayhem and economic disruption” in places like Cashedonia, I could dig myself out of debt and wait for my gold-plated pension. Of course, I’d have to break every mirror in the house so I wouldn’t have to look at myself in the morning…but, hey, who cares about a conscience when there’s money to be made?

In Part 1 of ‘Human Rights complaint forces Fantino to tell truth,’ I summarized the background to complaints made by Gary McHale and I to the Ontario Human Rights Commission in July 2007, and showed how the subject officers, Commissioner Fantino included, actually admitted in writing to the OHRC in July 2008 that they made a deliberate decision to stop us from putting up flags and arrest us in order to ‘protect us’ from native ‘extreme elements’ who might choose to use violence against us.

6. Conclusion

I cannot help the fact that I was born of non-native parents with white skin. Having white skin, however, does not prevent me from recognizing racism when I see or experience it. Nor does white skin prevent me from learning and applying the lessons taught by Dr. King in order to confront injustices.

OPP makes Canadian flag illegal for non-natives

In 1993 the Supreme Court ruled in the case of Ramsden v. Peterborough that Canadian citizens have the right to place items on public utility poles in accordance with the Charter’s guarantee of Freedom of Expression.

On Dec 02/06 a Caledonia man by the name of Bo Chausse was arrested while trying to exercise his right to place a Canadian flag on a hydro pole across from the occupied Douglas Creek Estates.

On Dec 16/06, at a protest organized by Gary McHale in support of Mr. Chausse, both he and I were arrested to ‘prevent a breach of the peace’ while attempting to do the same thing. Actually, Gary was standing quietly on the side of the road with some OPP officers waiting for a senior officer to come and explain why putting up a Canadian flag was illegal. He had offered to cancel the rest of the protest if he received an explanation. Instead of ‘open and honest dialogue,’ Gary got to wear some handcuffs.

OPP hatch a plan

An OPP document shows that in response to a plan to stop Gary McHale’s protests that apparently was put in motion on Dec 03/06 by Commissioner Fantino, the OPP arrested Gary on Dec 16th; held him in jail overnight; tried to place travel restrictions on him and even suggested to a Crown Attorney that he lay an unwarranted ‘Mischief’ charge against him. All this even though they knew Gary had committed no crime.

Less than one day after CANACE released three hardhitting editorials criticizing the harebrained plan by Brantford developers and their ‘Haldimand Tract Good Neighbours Coalition’ to sell out the rule of law in Canada, the thugs who were to benefit from the scheme demonstrated, for all to see, the mindnumbing folly of the plan to ask municipalities to pay native extortionists with taxpayers’ money.

Dramatic developments coincide with CANACE activities

UPDATE 1245 EST May 26/08: Fantino has emergency meeting with Six Nations Confederacy chiefs, tells them he will enforce court orders against native protesters. See ‘End of the beginning’ for struggle against race-based policing.’

While CANACE can’t take credit for all the dramatic developments that have taken place recently, they do seem to coincide with CANACE activism and education efforts.  

A quick refresher:

• On May 07/08 CANACE released our latest report, ‘Legalized MYTHS of Illegal Occupations‘ to a packed Cayuga Hall that included business people and developers. MPP Toby Barrett spoke to the crowd and provided an update about Deseronto.
• On May 08/08 CANACE directors met with two federal MPs at a resident’s home in Caledonia where we supplied them with copies of 4 CANACE reports. We have received confirmation that 20 copies of these reports were distributed ‘broadly’ in Ottawa and are ‘causing quite a stir.’
• On May 12/08 CANACE was authorized to gather evidence at a construction site in Cayuga for the purpose of laying criminal charges against native blockaders. Charges should be filed via ‘private informations’ by the end of next week. The OPP subsequently advised the builders that their Criminal division was ‘investigating.’

PCs pound Bryant over alleged interference in Caledonia policing

The Ontario PCs pounded Michael Bryant this week over alleged interference with the OPP in connection with the 4 day Six Nations highway blockade that began on April 25/08. The blockade was begun to force the OPP to stop arresting native protesters in Deseronto. During the blockade, natives threatened to ‘carve up’ OPP officers and kill their families.

CANACE founders hit back at Fantino/Bryant defamation

On April 23, 2008, just one day after personally serving Aboriginal Affairs Minister Michael Bryant with notices under the Libel and Slander Act for his public comments about me, my complaint to the Ontario Human Rights Commission and CANACE co-founder Gary McHale, OPP Commissioner Julian Fantino appeared on the John Oakley Show on AM640 Toronto Radio and earned the right to a similar notice by falsely accusing us of being ‘involved’ in violence and having a violent agenda.

I served Bryant right before the start of his meeting with Haldimand Council on April 22/08 while he was going around the room shaking hands.

“Aboriginal Affairs Minister Michael Bryant said the human rights complaint doesn’t help resolve a complex situation dating back hundreds of years. Most people don’t have much sympathy for Vandermaas or McHale after their tense rallies in the divided town, he said.

“Their activity, generally-speaking, is extremely harmful and, as far as I can tell, unwelcome by everybody,” Bryant said. “I know a lot of people in Caledonia feel that they’re individuals who are just trying to get attention for themselves and are, in fact, stirring it up.””

Background to our complaints to the Ontario Human Rights Commission

The struggle against race-based policing has been a long, exhausting, frustrating, exhilarating (sometimes!) process. After the arrest of Gary McHale and me on Dec 16/06 during a protest to support Caledonia resident Bo Chausse - arrested for trying to raise a Canadian flag on Dec 02/06 – we did everything possible to expose these outrageous violations of basic Charter rights by the OPP.
