If Michael Moore Had a Good Twin: A Review of Gary McHale’s Victory In The No-Go Zone

09272013_If-Michael-Moore-Had-a-Good-Twin

“Victory In The No-Go Zone is an astounding book.”

Janice Fiamengo, a University of Ottawa English professor who is also the editor of the Freedom Press Canada Journal, has written an in-depth review of Gary McHale’s upcoming book, Victory In The No-Go Zone: Winning The Fight Against Two-Tier Policing. The concluding paragraph reads:

Janice FiamengoVictory in the No-Go Zone is an astounding book. The accumulated evidence of police corruption and of the triumph of victim ideology over effective or just law enforcement is often staggering. One can hardly believe this is Canada. McHale tells the story with just the right mix of anger, insouciance, and righteous passion. He is brilliant in his analysis, a la Martin Luther King Jr., of the inverse logic that tars men as racist bigots when they call for equal treatment, and blames innocent citizens for “inciting” violence through peaceful demonstrations. His character as a man of God, and as someone who has thought through his own principles and convictions and believes in himself whatever the whole world tells him, colours every page and makes his book an inspiring document of perseverance and integrity. It should be read by all concerned Canadians, not only as a civic duty but also as a warning and a preparation for what we may all face in the future.

Freedom Press Canada has kicked off its pre-order campaign for Gary McHale’s upcoming book, Victory In The No-Go Zone: Winning The Fight Against Two-Tier Policing, his account of the fight against OPP racial policing in Caledonia that picks up where Christie Blatchford’s Helpless left off. It is appropriate, therefore, that the book begins with a foreword from her.

You’ve read about the agony of Caledonia’s victims in Helpless at the hands of the Ontario Provincial Police and their two-tier policing of Native militants; now read the story about the small group of Canadian patriots who followed Dr. King’s teachings in order to defend freedom and, in the process, showed Canadians how to fight back…and win.

If you want to stop police appeasement of violent radicals in Canada, and prevent European-style Islamic ‘no-go zones’ from arriving here tomorrow, you should read this book.

About Victory In The No-Go Zone (from the rear cover)

In Caledonia, thousands of families lived in fear because ‘Public Safety’ became a mere political buzz word while the full resources of the state were used to silence victims’ voices. This book exposes the corruption of race-based policing while demonstrating how average citizens can take back control when the system fails.

You are invited…

Mark Vandermaas interviewed by CBC re Tom Keefer march in Caledonia

Caledonia Victims ProjectNot long ago I finished a short, but great radio interview w/CBC radio (French) out of Toronto who wanted my perspective on today’s march through Caledonia as the founder of the Caledonia Victims Project.

They were given material by the organizers of today’s takeover of the streets of Caledonia by Tom Keefer and his anti-capitalist allies that left the impression today’s march was about ‘commemmorating’ the occupation, but I talked about the flyer delivered to Haldimand homes in which they make it clear that the purpose was not about commemoration, but because Gary McHale & company (of which I am proud to be one) decided to walk down a county road through DCE, and how they are using the circumstances of a mentally disturbed person who tried to commit suicide by driving his car into the house on DCE.

I told him that it doesn’t matter whether they’re commemorating the beginning of a reign of terror against innocent people or reacting to non-native people who dared to walk down a county road, their goal is to legitimize the use of violence against innocent people as a political tool, by denying the humanity of their victims by pretending they don’t exist, by blaming the victims for the violence against them, and by attacking those who speak out for them. I said this was the essence of a supremacist ideology and, as the son of parents who lived under Nazi occupation, I found it disgusting and despicable.

I made clear that the victims also include native people; I mentioned the two rapes of native women on DCE, and that as a former soldier/peacekeeper I have a duty to speak for them too.

Freedom Party of Ontario bestows ‘Free Speech Award’ on Mary Lou Ambrogio; praises Caledonia activists

The week beginning Saturday, April 21, 2012 was surely one of curious contrasts for Caledonia rule-of-law activists…

In the evening, I was honoured to be a guest speaker and presenter at the post-election dinner meeting for the Freedom Party of Ontario where executive members Bob Metz, Robert Vaughan, and leader Paul McKeever explained why the NDP, Liberals and Hudak PCs are all nearly-identical ‘red’ parties more interested in promoting ‘wealth distribution’ than in promoting wealth creation and protecting liberty.

On the way home my very apolitical wife said, ‘The penny dropped after listening to the speeches. Now I understand the difference between the parties.’

Vandermaas email to OPP officer re April 21 DCE rally before two ‘breach of peace’ arrests

120421 Sign carried by Mark Vandermaas & other anti-violence/racism protesters onto occupied Douglas Creek Estates, CaledoniaOn April 18/12 an officer from the plain-clothed OPP ‘Provincial Liaison Team’ sent me an email politely inquiring as to what day we would be holding our planned march onto the Douglas Creek Estates in Caledonia. Gary McHale had refused to disclose the information, and she was hoping I would. I wrote back to her on April 19 explaining why I would not do so. The email is below. But, before we get there…

Keep in mind while reading my message to her that just two days later, on April 21/12, she and her OPP partner (wearing blue/black jackets in photo below) would watch a native occupier (red hat, sunglasses, dark coat) chase after me and assault me by blocking my path and chest-butting me as I carried a sign saying ‘HEALING BEGINS WITH APOLOGIES.’

In the audience were 45 people who had travelled with Mark via a bus sponsored by the Canadian Society for Yad Vashem including, Caledonia activists Gary & Christine McHale as well as Merlyn Kinrade and his daughter Olivia, along with Al Gretzky from the International Free Press Society; Steve Scheffer from Hamilton’s Never Again group, and Rabbi Jonathan Hausman who flew up from Boston to ride the bus with his ‘Favourite Gentile.’

At his March 21/12 Israel Truth Week Conference in London, which was held at Royal View Church (where Caledonia activist Gary McHale’s message to Christians about the evils of racism – especially anti-Semitism – and about the necessity of paying a price for their beliefs was very well received), Mark announced that the Canadian Society for Yad Vashem had offered to provide a bus to take people to Ottawa for the ceremony. Dr. Peter Marshall of the Victory International Church in Hamilton enthusiastically supported the trip and approximately half the bus’s 46 passengers were members of his 1,000-strong congregation.

Gary McHale – ‘The Caledonia Crusader’ – appeared on the Brian Lilley Show yesterday with David Menzies to talk about the racist decision by the Supreme Court of Canada to devalue the lives of victims of crime – native and non-Native –  when they and their communities are victimized by repeat native offenders.

After taping the show earlier in the day at the SUN studio in Toronto Gary and Christine McHale, along with Caledonia hero Merlyn Kinrade (all of Canadian Advocates for Charter Equality – CANACE); Mark Vandermaas (Israel Truth Week/Caledonia Victims Project); Al Gretzky & Mary Lou Ambrogio (International Free Press Society); and members of the Hamilton-based Never Again Group spent the rest of the day at the Israel Consulate on Bloor Street to support the Jewish Defence League’s call to rally against planned protests by anti-Semitic forces  in connection with the so-called, ‘Global March to Jerusalem.’

ANNOUNCING: 2012 Israel Truth Week Conference – ‘ISRAEL: THE CASE FOR THE DEFENCE,’ London ON, March 21st.

Israel Truth Week logoMany of you followed my 26-day ‘Blue Beret’ vigil during last summer’s ‘Boat to Gaza’ flotilla fiasco.

After reading about the recent intimidation of Jewish students at Western University here in London (Jewish Tribune, Feb 09/12, ‘UWO Students Disrupt Jewish Event’) I – with help from other friends of Israel – have organized a direct response to this outrage via the first ‘Israel Truth Week Conference’ to be held in London on March 21st. to show Jewish students and families that they are not alone, that non-Jews are prepared to stand with them against the incitement and vilification directed towards them, particularly during the so-called ‘Israel Apartheid Week.’

The theme of the conference is…

‘ISRAEL: THE CASE FOR THE DEFENCE.’

In additon to a field of great presenters, including Rabbi Jonathan Hausman; Dr. Salim Mansur (author of ‘Delectable Lie: A liberal repudiation of multiculturalism); and Rev. Joe Campbell I will be discussing the evidence showing the involvement of anti-Israel groups in supporting the lawlessness during the Caledonia crisis in the context of explaining how our work there led me to begin this project.

NEWS RELEASE: Caledonia 8 invite PC leader Tim Hudak to march in Caledonia against racism

UPDATES:

Caledonia 8 invite PC leader Tim Hudak to march in Caledonia against racism

The Caledonia 8 – which includes members of CANACE, the Caledonia Victims Project and courageous residents of Haldimand County – call upon PC leader Tim Hudak to help them take a stand against institutionalized racism in Ontario and, in particular, against the McGuinty government’s racist policies that have victimized so many in Haldimand County.

The Caledonia 8 are extending an official invitation to PC leader Tim Hudak to march side-by-side with them in Caledonia during the month of March on a date of his choosing.

The principles of Rule of Law and equality under the law are fundamental principles of grassroots conservative people. As such the issues surrounding Caledonia must be key to the Conservative party’s efforts to rid Ontario of McGuinty’s racial policing policies.

David Strutt photos: Caledonia 8 make history on Douglas Creek Estates in Caledonia

Welcome to DCE 120218Professional photographer and graphic artist David Strutt drove from his home north of Toronto to be with members of the ‘Caledonia 8’ and our supporters on Feb 18/12 when we became the first non-natives since Feb 28/06 to walk onto the Douglas Creek Estates with United Nations and Canadian flags without asking permission from the native occupiers who terrorized Caledonia while the province’s police and Liberal government ran interference for them, and bought the site so they could remain after a judge ordered their eviction.

Strutt is also the gifted cartoonist/artist who has created the editorial cartoons found recently here on VoiceofCanada, and was a Freedom Party candidate in the last provincial election.

Read an interpretation of Davids photos below…

David captured the deflated faces of the occupiers, etched with the dawning realization that somehow, everything had changed for them in one day. ‘One day’ that took five years for a patient, determined McHale to bring about.

McHale arrested in Caledonia because Native man assaults 77 yr old former Navy vet/UN peacekeeper & OPP officers

LAST UPDATED Feb 28/12

Only in Caledonia.

VoiceofCanada, Feb 06/12: David Strutt cartoon: new logo for ‘ONTARIO PARTISAN POLICE’Only in Caledonia do the police let the native thugs who attack their officers and peaceful non-native people (one of whom happens to be an elderly, cancer-ridden veteran of the Canadian Navy and a UN peacekeeping mission) go free, and arrest the peaceful leader of the non-natives for standing quietly on a county road. You just can’t make this stuff up.

Today seven of the Caledonia Eight, along with a number of Caledonia residents, supporters and spouses, did what no one has done since Feb 28/06 when the occupation there began. We walked through the gates of the Douglas Creek Estates, down the county road that runs through it, to within 100 feet or so of the only house on the site.

The visit was a surprise for the occupiers and police, who were warned shortly before we left the Lions Hall in Caledonia to drive to the site.

120218 History made as OPP arrest native on DCE; 1st arrest ever during commission of crime. PHOTO BY CHRISTINE MCHALEAlthough history was made today by both the visit itself into Dalton McGuinty’s forbidden no-go zone via the county road that runs through the site; and by the first-ever arrest of a native person during the commission of a crime (an assault on Gary McHale), we clearly demonstrated once again that racial policing is very much alive.

The OPP arrested Gary McHale for the sixth time because a native man assaulted OPP officers and 77 year old Navy war veteran & UN peacekeeper Merlyn Kinrade who was wearing his blue beret and holding a UN flag.

Sadly, he also happens to be suffering from cancer. It happened right beside me. The police let the attacker go, and then arrested the non-native — Gary McHale — because he refused to leave because he wasn’t doing anything illegal. Why the arrest then? Because, according to the police, it was Gary McHale – one of the 120218 OPP ask Caledonia 8 to leave DCE even though things are quiet after arrest of native woman. Caledonia 8 members (L-R): Mark Vandermaas (blue beret), Gary McHale, Merlyn Kinrade (holding UN flag)peaceful non-native victims of an earlier assault – who was inciting a breach of the peace.

One observer who has never attended one of our protests sent me this comment:

“I’m still trying to get it through my head that Gary was arrested in order to stop the natives from continuing to break the law. This is just ludicrous.” Continue reading

Queen’s Park news conference – NGO’s stand with Caledonia activists for release of Caledonia Act recommendations to end racial policing

‘Ending Race-Based Policing: The Caledonia Act.’

Ending Race-Based Policing:The Caledonia Act' news conference, Queen's Park, Feb 10/12: (L-R) Gary McHale, Canadian Advocates for Charter Equality; Stuart Laughton, Never Again Group; Kristin Kaye, Haldimand Regional News; Mary Lou Ambrogio, International Free Press SocietyThat was the title of an historic news conference took place in the Queen’s Park Media Studio this past Friday, Feb 09/12 where CANACE and the Caledonia Victims Project presented our Caledonia Act recommendations for resolving the Caledonia crisis and preventing future breakdowns in the rule of law due to police/government refusal to protect innocent civilians during future landclaim lawlessness.

  • CANACE/Caledonia Victims Project recommendations: ‘The Caledonia Act’ [PDF, 4p]

The Media Studio was made available to us by Haldimand-Norfolk MPP Toby Barrett.

SPEAKERS (in order of appearance)

Note: there were technical difficulties with the video recording made of the conference. We are hoping to resolve them so we can post video but, for now, we can offer audio for three of the speakers in addition to their notes.

'The Caledonia Act' news conference, Queen's Park, Feb 10/12: Gary McHale, Canadian Advocates for Charter Equality1. Gary McHale of CANACE (Canadian Advocates for Charter Equality) explained that the conference was called in response to the arrests of the Caledonia Eight on Dec 03/11 while walking on a county road through the occupied Douglas Creek Estates, and the subsequent arrest of Gary McHale on Jan 27/12 after he and Caledonia resident Randy Fleming erected a sign at the occupation site which said, ‘NO JEWS ALLOWED BY ORDER OF MCGUINTY’ to draw attention to the reality that the exclusion of non-Natives from the site applies to all races.

He also condemned the racially-biased Ipperwash Inquiry, nearly five years after we held our first press conference in the same room to release our Ipperwash Papers project [ALSO]:

McGuinty created the Ipperwash Inquiry, not to look into ending the violence but to ensure no Aboriginal is ever harmed regardless of violent crimes Aboriginals commit during so-called land claim occupations. In McGuinty’s Ipperwash Inquiry not one non-Aboriginal resident of Ipperwash was permitted to testify – in McGuinty’s Ontario the views of non-Aboriginals have no bearing on government policies. This is why the result of the Ipperwash Inquiry has been used to twist OPP policies to ensure laws are not enforced, Charter Rights of non-Aboriginals are not upheld, that public safety is defined only by ensuring no Aboriginal is harmed, and law enforcement has been replaced by an illegal peacekeeping mission.

2. 'The Caledonia Act' news conference, Queen's Park, Feb 10/12: Stuart Laughton, Never Again GroupStuart Laughton of the Never Again Group, in an inspiring, eloquent and reasoned speech, endorsed the ‘NO JEWS ALLOWED BY ORDER OF MCGUINTY’ sign erected at the occupation site and called on the McGuinty government to end racial policing by arguing for equality and protection of the ultimate minority group – the individual.

Miroslav Marinov, a Toronto blogger who has made several trips to Caledonia to see racial policing in action with his own eyes, described Stuart’s presentation thus in an email to me: “Stuart Laughton’s short speech is one of the best analyses of legal and social consequences of Ontario government’s policies in Caledonia.”

In choosing to publish four separate items from four separate members of the Caledonia Eight in her last edition, publisher Chris Pickup left no doubt where she stood when it came to supporting those who have fought to restore the rule of law and end OPP racial policing in Caledonia:
