Dear Justin Trudeau: About Julian Fantino and the application of his Hitler Theory in Caledonia…

Dear Santa Claus: You come at me with all these allegations and I’m going to come right back at you. I call it the Hitler Theory, in that it’s my theory that you are worse than Hitler. Yours in dismay, Master Julian Fantino

P.S. I made the dog lick all three of the cookies I left for you.”

Dear Justin Trudeau…

Justin Trudeau, Member of Parliament
Liberal Party of Canada

Re: Julian Fantino and the application of his ‘Hitler Theory’ in Caledonia

Dear Mr. Trudeau:

Firstly, thank you so very much for your video statement during the recent campaign pointing out the utter lack of respect Julian Fantino has expressed for the Charter of Rights. Your words were historic in that it was the first time a Member of Parliament has challenged Fantino on his stated beliefs on the topic. Thanks also to the Liberal Party for holding the government accountable for its newly-found support for Julian Fantino in light of Diane Finley’s signature on the anti-Fantino petition. As a long time Conservative Party supporter (member of Reform under Manning) I can’t begin to tell you how mixed are my emotions to watch Liberals begin to hold the supposed ‘law & order’ party accountable for failing the Charter and Caledonia:

‘The Hitler Theory in Practice: Caledonia’s Nightmare of Fear and Anarchy’:

Fantino is quoted in a recent Globe & Mail article as saying this about your criticism:

“I mean these are serious, serious issues and I found it quite distressing really that Justin Trudeau would be trotted out to misrepresent what I said and take it out of context. It was an Academy Award performance.”

MP Diane Finley ‘Caught in the Middle’ as Liberal MPs question her signature on anti-Fantino petition in House of Commons

Caledonia artist portrays Stephen Harper as one of the 'Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil' monkeys in her award-winning portrayal of the Caledonia crisis - 2 years before he welcomes Julian Fantino (shown below as one of Caledonia's tormenters) Click the image to learn more. The headline of this Globe and Mail piece by Jane Taber is rather misleading (it leads readers to conclude the Liberals made a serious effort to recruit Julian Fantino for themselves), but some important news is found further down in the article itself where Taber reports that on Nov 25/10 Fantino’s conduct in Caledonia was, for the first time in five years, the subject of discussion in the House of Commons thanks to two Liberal MPs who wondered why – given Fantino’s candidacy for the federal Conservatives – MP Diane Finley’s signature was on a 2009 anti-Fantino petition circulated by Haldimand residents.

And Thursday two Liberals [MPs Rob Oliphant and Maria Minna] – stood up in the Commons to attack Mr. Fantino over his handling of the native protests in Caledonia when he was the OPP commissioner. They noted that Human Resources Minister Diane Finley, whose represents the troubled corner of Ontario, had signed a petition calling for an inquiry into Mr. Fantino’s actions.

“The member was a minister when she signed a petition demanding the Prime Minister’s hand-picked candidate in Vaughan, Julian Fantino, be investigated. She wanted his pay docked,” Toronto MP Maria Minna charged. “She wanted him suspended and she wanted him fired. Does she still hold the same view now?”

Judge orders end to Brantford lawlessness and illegal fees by native protesters and Haudenosaunee Development Institute (HDI)

“On the evidence before me I find as a fact that a number of these protests have led to violence, threats and intimidation against workers, protestors wearing masks, barricades being built by the respondents at a work site. […]

“I find as a fact, on the evidence before me, that the economy of this small city is at risk.”

CANACE co-founders Gary McHale and Merlyn Kinrade appeared on CHCH TV’s ‘Square Off’ segment yesterday at 5:30pm.

Gary was asked about the advance copy of Christie Blatchford’s book ‘Helpless‘ he was holding so he obligingly held it up to the camera, and then shared some key items in the book about OPP corruption, and the most interesting part (for him/us) was how OPP officers, including their union leader Karl Walsh, spoke out openly under their real names.

Toronto Star gets critical facts wrong on Fantino Caledonia charge

100108-CH News Fantino charged“No wonder Governments are not afraid of the public – when the media cannot hold the Crown accountable then the public will never understand the issues.” Gary McHale, Oct 06/10

According to the Toronto Star…

A local activist, Gary McHale, filed private charges against Fantino, alleging he had attempted to influence municipal politicians, but it took a court in Cayuga a mere 20 minutes to dismiss the allegations.

McHale had alleged that an email Fantino sent to the Haldimand County mayor in 2007 constituted a threat. The court disagreed.

Bizzare vote by Haldimand Council re election signs shows county’s disdain for Charter

Last night, after Gary McHale complained about potential Charter violations, Haldimand Council held an emergency session to vote on  proposed changes to its election sign by-law which its own lawyer advised would not stand up to a Charter challenge.

[…] The Solicitor’s advice is that a blanket prohibition on election signs from all public property, including road allowances, would not likely withstand a Charter challenge. […]

  • Haldimand County: ‘Special Council Agenda’ for Sept 08/10 and ‘Report PED-GM-02-2010 RE: Election Signage’ [PDF, 10P]

In a strange twist however, the County did not vote on the proposed ammendment to bring its by-law (partially) into line with the Charter by allowing election signs on road allowances (it did not address the unreasonable limits on sign sizes raised by McHale), but instead voted to enact an even newer last-minute ammendment. The new by-law allows for signs on road allowances under certain conditions which can only be considered to be bizarre, nonsensical and impossible to fulfil.

McHale’s Charter challenge forces Haldimand Council into emergency vote re election sign by-law

knight-w-sword.jpg

Haldimand County (which includes Caledonia) council is having an emergency session tonight at 6:00pm to modify their restrictive election sign by-law after Gary McHale warned them twice — in 2008 and again in August 2010 — that it violated the Charter of Rights. McHale will be a candidate running in Ward 2 against Councillor Craig Grice for the Oct 25/10 municipal election.

The current by-law prohibits election signs from being placed on public property, including road allowances, and it restricts the size of signs to just 1.3 sq. metres.
